FAQs
Is this really not sleep training?
Yes! I promise. If you work with me, I will never tell you that you need to let your child cry alone in a room. While I am not judging you if you have sleep-trained, I believe that I can offer a gentler and more sustainable way to get more sleep. In fact, I will support you in finding your own way - with routines, sleep set-ups, and schedules that fit your family.
How can you help me then?
How I can help you depends on your needs and your goals. Some parents come to me wanting to move on from bed-sharing, move towards independent sleep, or change routines and sleep associations that are no longer working for them and their child. Others want to learn more about biologically normal sleep, get on a better schedule, and create a routine that works while still maintaining sleep associations or bed-sharing.
Together, we will explore what YOUR family’s ideal sleep set-up looks like and how we can get everyone to get sufficient sleep while still nurturing your child’s needs. And yes, sometimes that means moving towards more independent sleep for your child, which we will accomplish with compassion and co-regulation.
What do you address in your sleep plan?
My sleep plans are always uniquely tailored to your family and I put great effort into putting them together. Typically, a sleep plan addresses the following:
Challenges and goals
Daytime activities, feeding, digestive issues, separation anxiety, and other factors that impact sleep
Sleep environment: Safety, light exposure, room set-up, sleep spaces on the go
Timing: Preventing over- and under-tiredness, recognizing sleep cues
Routines: Naptime and bedtime routines that help your child wind down
Sleep associations: Sleep associations that work and sleep associations that don’t work for you
Troubleshooting: Step-by-step plan to work on your sleep challenges
Parental sleep: How to ensure enough sleep for parents, even during challenging times
What does the text support look like?
You will be able to text me daily with any updates, questions, or feedback on what worked and what didn’t. I love checking in with my clients and hearing about their nights. I am always happy to provide encouragement, advice, or further resources. Since every baby is unique, we might discover something unexpected along the way, such as a bedtime that works really well or a song that calms your baby immediately. Instead of blindly following the sleep plan, we get to make little adjustments throughout our time together. This means that your baby’s sleep doesn’t only improve on paper or under ideal conditions, but we get to communicate in real-time and navigate challenges together.
Text support is offered Monday-Friday from 9 am - 5 pm MT & Saturdays and Sundays 11 am - 4 pm MT
